The FR9000 Car Ignition Interlock Breathalyser prevents alcohol- impaired persons from operating motor vehicles, heavy equipment or machinery. It helps to safeguard others and prevent accidents caused by drink driving. The FR9000 interlock system prevents a driver from starting their vehicle when their Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) is above 0.02%. The device consists of a breathalyser handset and a control box fitted behind the dashboard of the vehicle which acts like an immobiliser.
The Andatech Interlock determines the BAC with an electrochemical sensor, similar to that used by the police. It does not give a false reading based on the presence of cigarette smoke or other exhaled substances.
When the car is fitted with an Andatech FR9000 Interlock, the driver must blow into the interlock device to allow the vehicle to start, a rolling re-test will then be required after a random interval.
Temperature and humidity - Human temperature and humidity are both measured by proper sensors to prevent circumvention.
Onboard data logger - Records every interaction a driver has with user's vehicle. Recorded interactions include activity, time, date and BAC level. The computer can store more than 8,000 (can be upgraded) separate events and display the content in a summary of detailed format.
Meeting minder - A service calendar can use audio and visual reminders to count the days between required scheduled appointments. If the driver misses his or her appointment, the service calendar will disable the interlock device, preventing the car from starting.
Rolling retest - A test taken prior to the initial breath test. This is the device's primary defense against circumvention. The test can be set to occur at fixed or random intervals. If a driver fails the test, the circumvention alarm will sound.
Bypass Detection - An instrument that detects whether teh vehicle is running. If a car is running, but the driver has not taken a breath test yet, the circumvention alarm will sound. The interlock device then enters a lockout state for a predetermined period.
Power interrupt - A record of when the vehicle's power has been disconnected or interrupted. This may occurs if the driver tampers, repairs or replaces the battery. Driver is required to provide documentation of repairs.
Emergency restart - In case of a vehicle stall, this feature allows the vehicle to have an emergency restart within several minute of shutdown.
Infrared/RS232/USB data transfer - Support infrared, RS232, and USB download for data and reports.
The Andatech FR9000 Interlock system is designed with a 100% detection of vehicle operation without a breath sample, making it the most dependable and precise ignition interlock device offered on the market today. This unit exceeds NHTSA and Australian Standard specifications. The heated electrochemical fuel cell and breath sample path ways provide an extremely reliable and accurate measurement. The FR9000 uses a quick-heat system: at -40 degrees Celsius, warming up will take less than 3 minutes.
